Cook Islands Robotics Club

The Cocobots are the Cook Islands’ national youth robotics team and part of the Cook Islands Robotics Club. The programme gives young Cook Islands students the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through practical, hands-on learning.

Students work together to design, build and programme a robot while developing valuable skills in problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, leadership and communication.

Each year, selected students have the opportunity to represent the Cook Islands at an international robotics competition. For many, this is their first opportunity to travel overseas, meet students from around the world and compete on a global stage.

The experience is about much more than building a robot. It helps our young people grow in confidence, discover new career possibilities and see that students from a small island nation can compete, contribute and succeed internationally.

When the Cocobots travel overseas, they proudly carry the Cook Islands name with them. Our students compete alongside teams from countries around the world, share our culture and build friendships with other young innovators. They return home with new knowledge, greater confidence and experiences that can inspire other Cook Islands students to become involved in technology, engineering and robotics. By supporting the Cocobots, you are helping create opportunities for the next generation of Cook Islands innovators, problem-solvers and future leaders.

Taking a robotics team to an international competition requires significant funding. As a small island community, we face additional costs associated with international travel, freight and accessing specialised robotics equipment and materials.
